Sebastian Vettel, leader depuis l'Australie perd du temps sur Hamilton avec les Red Bull de Verstappen et Ricciardo. Le pilote allemand avec des gommes plus endurantes est remonté à la deuxième avec huit secondes de retard. La Ferrari n'a jamais pu rattrapé Hamilton.
